First collab with The Living Room Blog

Hi everyone! Sorry to disappear on you for a while. I admit I've been nerding out most of my time and just wanted to push through the last semester ever for my degree and I did it! So glad to be back into blogging and have had the privilege to collab with a fellow fashion lover and a very talented photographer Vanessa King. You could check out her blog The Living Room Blog !

I've gotta say surrounding yourself with people who are in the same industry and are as passionate as you, or just as simple as making friends who have the same interests as you could be the biggest motivation. I've learnt that working with another person on the project keeps me going, and reminds me why I never want to give up on something I love doing. So hopefully this little advice helps!

MSFW 2013

Was so excited to be able to get tickets for MSFW Runway 2 especially when some of my favourite labels like Alice McCall, Life with Bird, Manning Cartell... the list just goes on. We and visited the hub where there were free nail painting, polaroid pictures and other free goodies. We've gone wild with the pcitures. Thanks to my lovely mother, I was able to put together a nice outfit for the runway. This time definitely going for the spring look with lots of colours. Thanks to & Other Stories for the lovely multi-coloured print silk shirt and Annarita N for white leather skirt. Can't go to a fashion show without showing off my Alexander Wang Rockie and Jeffrey Campbell Soiree. Necklace by Marc Jacobs, Watch by Michael Kors, bracelet by Swarovski.

Here are some of my favourite looks of the night...

YB J'amie wool slit cape was a highlight of the night. Long capes hide the body so well and they could be such a statement piece when it comes to wanting the overcoat look. YB J'amie has converted a traditional cape look into a flirty chic look for spring. It's no surprise when warmer weather comes along, the brighter colours pop out. Dazzling blue has definitely earned its place in the top spring colours list and it is definitely a must-have colour for this spring's wardrobe.

Graphic prints took over the catwalk and Life With Birds is certainly leading the pack. Their forest green graphics print collection have left the audience WOWing. The prints are electric but yet elegant. If you wanted to go for something a bit more edgy this spring, definitely look into investing in a few Life With Bird pieces.

One of my favourite look of the night was this beautiful sweetheart neckline and floral embroideries dress by Alice McCall. This lovely 1950s cabana inspired look is from Alice McCall's spring 2013 'Her Name Was Lola' collection. The style is chic yet flirty at the same time. A perfect girly look to switch to from the exotic looks of the prints.

White cutout mini but Alice McCall. Absolutely stunning and love the details of the cuts. We all know cutout dresses were so last year but Alice McCall has definitely redefined the concept of 'cutout', and now it is a must have. White is the new black this spring so bring on all things white!

Manning Cartell has done it again with their spring collection. The stunning gem trader cropped cami paired with arts inspired design pencil skirt. Playful yet romantic. Nothing wrong with showing off that body!

Geometric shorts by Livia Arena. It stood out to me because it wasn't just another pair of 'skorts'. Love the high waist look because I would love to pair them with a nice cropped white top. Could definitely see white on white being another popular spring trend.

Silhouette this season has taken a major overhaul and the shape-defining oversized rounded shoulder look has become a global look that has continue to expand. This look by Manning Cartell is a must have for the colder Melbourne weather to keep you warm.

All about the compromise

Uni work is no excuse for not posting, but the cold is! Thank god my bank account has been kind enough to fit a winter coat on the list. This Topshop black and white bomber coat has been my best friend getting through the almost unbearable winter together (maybe not that extreme but I'm scared of the cold). Loving the bomber coat look, giving a minimalist effect as always. Doesn't steal the spotlight of other pieces on the body. I've gotta be honest here, the Alexander Wang Mackenzie high heel boots was my 'item of the week' and these babies sure did some damage to my bank account. Then I thought I needed a pair of boyfriend jeans for these boots. So to compromise, I decided to give up on these Nobody boyfriend jeans I've fell in love with and instead, got an pair of Evil Twin boyfriend jeans for a lot less. It was a great bargain with a further 20% off from Chadstone VIP night... and they look just as great and just as comfy! In order to get a great outfit together, it's all about compromise. As mentioned in my previous post, learn to balance between luxury brands and the cheaper brands. It is not just about the labels... sometimes, it's more important to be comfortable in an outfit and that's the essence of feeling great inside out! Who says you have to spend til you drop to look banging hot?? x

Metallic love

I'm not usually a metallic girl. I'm more of a sheer and silk person. Love the lightness of the material and they're just never out of fashion! Went online shopping and had my eyes glued to those gold toned I Like Wolves skirt on Markethq.com. A bit girly for me but it would look nice with a cropped suede top for a girls night out or a simple white t-shirt for a sunny day to the mall. I've chosen to match it with the white Celine top I stole from mum's wardrobe. Can't tell you how much love I've got for her closet. She loves her brands and since I'm a broke uni student who can't afford to go on an expensive shopping spree, her wardrobe became my temporary solution to what could potentially be a wardrobe disaster for me. One thing I wish I could change... my shoes size! They're a massive AU 9 and it bugs me that I can't steal mum's shoes because she's got an amazing collection... To name a few... Jimmy Choos, Louboutins, Pradas, Gorman... A somewhat replica of what a Sex And The City closet would be like. Not a big fan of accessorising when it's a casual outing. Just a simple bangle would do. Loving the purple matte raybans. Definitely digging the metal arms. So chic! Finishing off with a classic black Chanel clutch (thanks mum!) and I'm ready for a nice day in the sun. Enjoy! x

BLACK ON BLACK

Every blog needs that one classy LBD post. I've given my classic LBD outfit a bit of a twist and after choosing from a pile of black, I've decided on this famous County of Milan shirt by Marcelo Burlon. Surprised to find that Rita Ora has the same one too. Match it up with a pair of black leather pants- that's my type of 'black on black'- the one that reflects who I am- carefree, minimalist, fun... Of course all girls love the brands, it's a materialistic world we're living in, and some have learnt to define themselves through the brands they carry. Prada, Givenchy, LV, Miu Miu... But has it also brought upon us the pressure to keep up with our 'expensive' image whilst loosing sight of who we are? It's even more difficult as a Uni student with a part time job and never-ending assignments to survive in this materialistic world... So I've learnt to overcome this dilema by investing in a piece of nice clothing/ accessory every week that guarantees the quality without being extremely pricy, and once in a while, if I really like something that is out of my price range, I would sacrifice my weekly buys for that. Just like my beloved antiprima clutch in the current post. www.shopbop.com is my go-to online store for these goodies. Concluding this post, brands aren't all that to define someone, it's more important to invest in the quality, the style that you feel comfortable with wearing. However, there are ways to get around to it... slowly. My advice, live real, not expensive. Enjoy!

CASUAL FRIDAYS

Thanks Tony Bianco Shoes for your amazing support! And stay tuned to capitl's facebook, instagram and twitter account for more casual Friday styles :)

MEDUSA

Having an obsession with oversized jackets at the moment. Although this white oversized blazer jacket by Zara is simple, the cut subtly stylish! I chose a colourfully printed Bardot top underneath the jacket to contrast with the jacket.

I love mix matching colours and be playful with my outfits. Sometimes, the brand does not matter when you're on a tight budget. The most important thing about style is you're expressing your personality, and of course looking gorgeous! Bright colour has always been my thing and the orange cropped high waisted pants are definitely on the top of my winter list. Loving the Medusa mustard clutch for a good night out.
